Quakers have worked for many years for penal abolition, believing that true justice is restorative and healing and does not require incarceration. While that vision appears a long way off, there are many initiatives with that value in mind and Quakers are often strong participants. At the national level, Quakers are part of the Church Council on Justice and Corrections.
